Dr Simeon Johnson dies
at 73


   Dr. Simeon Oliver G. Johnson, dental surgeon of Kingston, died recently at his residence 7 East Avenue. Lyndhurst Park, St Andrew. He was 73.
   Dr. Johnson, who was born in Kingston was a son of the late Mr Simeon Johnson and Constantina Johnson. He received his early education at the Kingston Middle Grade School and by private tuition.
   He left Jamaica for the United States of America and entered Howard University where he took a course in Dental Surgery.
   After graduation he went to Panama where he served as secretary in war work in connection with the West Indian Society in Panama.
   Dr Johnson returned to Jamaica in 1935. He was a past president and secretary of the Jamaica Dental Association and served as a member of the Dental Board of Examiners.
   He was well known in masonic circles and was a past master of the Glen Lyon Lodge of the Scottish constitution.
   A member of the Methodist Church, Dr Johnson worshipped at Lyndhurst Church.
   He is survived by his wife, Eva, nee Wakeland, a step daughter, Mrs. Sybil Maxwell, and other relatives.
   The funeral was largely attended and following a service at the Lyndhurst Church conducted by the Rev Atherton Didier, interment was at the Providence Church cemetery, Hope Road.
